The School is seeking to bring in a Senior Staff Accountant to join our growing team. The Senior Staff Accountant will be part of the Business Office department reporting under the Director of Accounting. This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining the deferred revenue schedule, student drop refund calculation, treasury functions and assist in the month end closing process, including, but not limited to, journal entry postings and GL account analysis and reconciliation.

 

  • Maintains and calculates the monthly deferred revenue schedule in accordance with GAAP
  • Processes student refund drop calculation
  • Calculates,adjusts and reviews tuition adjustments in the AR System (Campus Vue)
  • Reviews monthly Campus Vue transactions particularly student tuition related billing prior to release and posting to the GL System (Great Plains)
  • Prepares the monthly student census including student starts and drops
  • Assists in various treasury functions including daily register reconciliation, ACH/Wire payment reporting, weekly deposits, positive pay uploads and stop payment requests
  • Prepares the weekly Cash Forecast report for submission to upper management
  • Prepares monthly and daily journal entries including bank transactions, monthly accruals and related party transactions
  • Prepares and reconciles various GL accounts including bank reconciliation schedules, deferred tuition , related party transactions.
  • Prepares and distributes actual vs budget variance reports to assigned departments and supports and assists department heads and managers on GL related inquiries
  • Assist in the yearend financial audit
  • Streamline workflow and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Assists in ad-hoc or special projects as needed

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • At least 3 years of combined accounting experience
  • Intermediate/advance Excel skills (Pivot, VLOOKUP, etc.) required
  • Previous experience in the Education/School industry preferred
  • Prior experience with Great Plains preferred
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical, highly accurate, detail oriented and great problem solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work load
  • Reliable, trustworthy and possesses great work ethic
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the changes within the department
  • Team success mentality
