Responsibilities for Core/Technical:

  • Teaching
    • Serve as instructor for assigned courses or course sections
    • Teach all classroom hours as scheduled (start and end classes at times stated in official schedule)
    • Ensure successful student attainment of learning outcomes
    • Provide excellent and timely student support
    • Maintain accurate academic records including grades, attendance and student communications, in full compliance with federal and state privacy laws
    • Utilize student feedback to continuously improve course instruction and make curriculum recommendations
  • Curriculum and Program Development
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of course materials consistent with industry standards and stated learning outcomes for the course and program as directed by the Program Director and/or Course Director
    • Participate in open houses, campus events, or other activities if requested
    • Complete and document the minimum required continuing education/professional development activities on an annual basis.

 

Assessment Metrics:

Instructors will be evaluated on some or all of these criteria:

  • Assessments of student learning outcomes
  • Student course evaluations
  • Student support and retention efforts
  • Observations of teaching practices
  • Quality of communications
  • Compliance with all academic, operational and financial policies of the school
  • Peer reviews
  • General performance and conduct as per standard Los Angeles Film School employee evaluations

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Instructors must have a minimum of four years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) they teach. Prior teaching experience does not satisfy this requirement.
  • Instructors must possess a related degree at least at the same level of the course the instructor teaches.
  • Instructors must have prior teaching experience or be willing to complete an intensive training and orientation process.
  • Excellent English communication abilities, both verbal and written
  • Physical, visual, and auditory capacity necessary to work on a computer and equipment, if applicable.
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 25 pounds.

  • Teaching

  • Utilize student feedback to continuously improve course instruction and make curriculum recommendations

Minimum Requirements:

  • Instructors must have a master's degree with a minimum of 15 semester credit hours in related subject areas that support the curriculum content they teach.
  • Instructors must have prior teaching experience or be willing to complete an intensive training and orientation process. 
  • Comfortable with both Apple and Windows operating systems
  • Competent using Microsoft Office
  • Excellent English communication abilities, both verbal and written
  • Physical, visual, and auditory capacity necessary to work on a computer and communicate effectively with students via telephone and computer. Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 10 pounds.
