Purpose: The Financial Aid Processor is responsible for all financial aid processing tasks including but not limited to: evaluating financial aid documents, reviewing verification files, performing data analysis to identify discrepancies and resolution of conflicting information, and all functions related to student loan origination and disbursement in accordance with federal Title IV guidelines.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Must take and pass an internal Financial Aid Essentials course (this will include a final exam)
  • Responsible for ensuring that stipends are processed correctly and that the exact funds due to the student, parent or lender are processed with little to no margin for error
  • Maintain team compliance with internal Los Angeles Film School policies and external policies
  • Package all approved Financial Aid awards in CampusVue/Anthology
  • Review all verification documents submitted by FACs for all selected students
  • Correct files that come back with exceptions and resubmit for processing through COD
  • Resolve outstanding file issues
  • Provide updates to Financial Aid Management on the status of outstanding students
  • Exercise independent professional judgment with minimal supervision to FACs on optimal financial packaging based on individual student circumstances
  • Work closely with Financial Aid Management to research, analyze, implement, and update the packaging strategies
  • Serve as a financial aid content expert for the school, working with all departments to ensure accurate understanding of issues, handling of questions and review of documents
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, accreditation standards and professional guidelines regarding financial aid
  • Additional duties may be required per business needs on an ongoing basis and are subject to change
  • Coordinate with campuses and other departments as needed to ensure required paperwork is on file

  • Applicant must not currently be or have been in default on student loans

 

Education | Experience:

  • One year of experience working in financial aid, education, or customer service
  • Strong understanding of target audience needs
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is highly recommend but not required
  • Experience working in CampusVue Anthology database

 

Computer Skills:

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (or Mac equivalent)
  • Ability to learn new programs as required, etc.

 

Environmental Factors:

  • Employee must be able to provide suitable work space; quiet & free of distractions
  • Employee must be able to provide high speed internet access at home
  • Work is performed in an office environment and may include sitting for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active communication; access, input, and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. Hearing ability, visual acuity and dexterity are also required to perform this function.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Demonstrated physical, visual, and auditory capacity to work on a computer and communicate effectively with students via telephone and computer for required shift length
